Two martyrs – 900 occupation violations against journalists during 2018

2018 witnessed serious Israeli violations against Palestinian journalists. The Israeli attacks during the past year were deliberate killing of journalists, arrest, detention, summoning, direct attacks with live bullets, rubber bullets, sound bombs, tear gas, ban on travel, or destroying and raiding media and cultural institutions, additionally, they banned websites in violation of international conventions that guarantee freedom of expression and publishing.

Israeli violations during 2018 were represented in killing both journalists (Yasser Mortaji and Ahmed Abu Hussein), in addition to wounding dozens of journalists, some of them seriously by live bullets, rubber bullets and tear gas.

In addition, 100 cases of arrests, detention, summons and extension of the trial against journalists were documented. The occupation continues to detain more than 20 journalists and female journalists, some of whom have been sentenced to various terms.
